Reiki Are U Prepared?
Some helpful points that may be useful when considering your teacher are listed below
• When did your potential teacher qualify with his/her 1st degree Reiki, as well as Master/Teacher level?
• Ask your potential teacher how long they have practised Reiki i.e. Length of time, as well as the number of Reiki treatments given prior to teaching Reiki.
• Ask if the teacher is still receiving patients on an on-going basis? Although it is relatively easy to talk about Reiki, the knowledge needs to be supported by experience in order to be effectively taught. There simply are no short cuts.
• What is their Reiki lineage, going back to Mikao Usui the founder of modern Reiki? You may be asked for this when joining a recognized Reiki body.
• The duration of the course. Has sufficient time been allowed by the teacher for the student to grasp all the practical concepts?
• Are the courses available offered and taught in small groups or individually on a one on one basis? Being taught one on one can be intimate, but lacks the possibility of working with or on other students, which is excellent for some experience and builds up ones self-confidence.
• Integrity is one of the most important qualities that a Reiki teacher/Master should possess and for any potential Reiki student.
• Is a certificate for the level being taken issued? Will it be recognized by a reputable Reiki organisation? Is a comprehensive manual supplied?
• Does the potential Reiki student realize that in the first degree, he/she will work with aspects of self-healing and forgiveness? This can be quite difficult and often symptoms of sickness may occur during this time, so the student has to be prepared for this.
• Does your selected teacher provide support after the completion of your Reiki course? This is really important.
A sharing healing circle - This provides the newly fledged healer an opportunity to give and receive Reiki within a supportive group.
Post workshops - These support all the work learnt in the Reiki courses and allows one to review everything that you have learnt along with all the techniques. Working with other practitioners with the same training can be extremely beneficial.
• To experience a full Reiki treatment prior to or during your course is also recommended. It is helpful in facilitating the beginning of the students self-healing process (so necessary in the Reiki journey). It also gives the student an understanding of how a Reiki treatment should be conducted and how it feels to receive the Reiki energies.
• Don't be afraid to ask the teacher if you can speak to some of their previous students. This will give you a good idea of how they found their course and training. Letters of recommendation may also be helpful.
• Can you change your Reiki master/teacher? For what ever your reason is for wanting to change your teacher, it is possible to do so. In doing this you may be required to re-do some of or all of the levels in order to fit in with your new teachers teaching lineage techniques and terminology. Some teachers don't accept other teacher's students.
Prices charged for courses seem to vary very much from teacher to teacher
Reiki 1st degree: £80 - £150 : Reiki 2nd degree: £100 - £200 : Advanced Reiki: £200 - £300
Master/Teacher level: £500 - £600
Remember that it is not just about the cost of your course that should determine who you select as your Reiki teacher. The contents and the way Reiki is taught are just as important as is the duration of the course.
A Reiki course cannot be adequately and effectively absorbed or taught over the period of a weekend. That is an illusion. Any certificate issued for such a weekend course is not worth the paper it is written on. Quick weekend courses have the tendency to diminish the value of Reiki. When making your decision weigh up all your information and then trust your intuition and common sense. «« back
