Reiki students, do U have the stamina that is required?
The most important quality for anyone embarking on their Reiki journey in order to become an effective practitioner is to have stamina of the spirit.
In order to derive the maximum benefit from Reiki, there must be a willingness to de-programme oneself from many previously held beliefs. Your receptors should be in the maximum open position. This is indeed challenging, but the benefits of this approach far outweigh the sacrifices. This has to come from within and is so challenging, that many students find first degree Reiki daunting. The drop out rate can be alarmingly high but can be avoided if the student is made aware of the demands of the course prior to the start of the course.
Below are some of the pertinent questions that need to be asked
• Do you have the ability to persevere when the going gets tough?
• Will you be able to set time aside necessary in order to complete your 21 days of self-healing?
•
Do you have integrity?
• Will you be able to hold confidences of your future clients?
• Will you be able to allocate adequate time for homework?
• What is your true motivation for enrolling on a Reiki course?
• Will you feel comfortable in the presence of your teacher and able to trust them? (This is why I strongly recommend receiving a treatment from the teacher prior to registering.)
• Can the teacher you have chosen trace their Usui Reiki lineage back to the founder Dr Mikao Usui? This is becoming an important issue for Reiki bodies when taking on new members.
• Do you have a sincere interest in helping others and making a difference to their lives?
• Do you understand that Reiki is not a quick fix therapy? Sometimes, in chronic cases, it may take several treatments before there are signs of progress.
If the answer to any one of these questions is "no", or there is any uncertainty, the student should first speak to the teacher (and if necessary, select another teacher), and even consider postponing going onto a course until the above questions can be honestly answered in the affirmative.
The most important process of any first degree Reiki course is the ability for the student to complete their self-healing after receiving their Reiki attunement. There are four different levels of purification: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The physical purification can often be the most challenging. Students need to be aware that physical symptoms (flu-like symptoms such as aching muscles, fever, headaches, sore throats, coughing, constipation and diarrhoea) are quite normal as the toxins from the body are released.
The student needs to allow time for their physical body to adjust to the energies of Reiki, by taking time out for themselves. This is very important.
Remember, in order to be able to help heal others, you first have to embark on the journey of healing yourself. This takes time, dedication and STAMINA.
