Tibetan Singing Bowl Workshop - 11th July 2009

singing bowlMany people are spiritually uplifted when they feel the sound of singing bowls resonating within them. This feeling is weaker when the sound is recorded. Sometimes the sound instills a feeling of great space or profound peace. These and other experiences are not a matter of "imagination" or "belief" as people who have not experienced this phenomenon tend to suggest. Furthermore, the sense of physical well being after a singing bowl "bath" is not only the result of relaxation.

Richard Branson working with a water-filled Tibetan Singing Bowl When you strike a singing bowl you can feel that the air surrounding the bowl vibrates. People, who have never heard of singing bowls and do not know what the frequencies are, also experience this when they place their hand against a singing bowl for the first time. The powerful vibrations spread quickly through our body, which consists of more than 80% water after all, and water being an ideal carrier of vibrations causes a delicate internal massage of all the cells. The human body is a living entity of vibrations and wavelengths. A healthy organ is well tuned, meaning that it vibrates only at its own frequency, while the frequency of a sick organ is disturbed.

Jean with the tiniest Tibetan Singing Bowl Singing bowls (as well as gongs and tingshaws) recreate the original harmonic frequency, and stimulate the body to rediscover its own harmonic frequency, by making it vibrate to the frequency of the bowls so that when it is synchronized, it can vibrate independently. Stimulated and caressed by the powerful vibrations of the singing bowl the body is able to tune into its own undisturbed frequency.

Chris demonstrating how to energize water in a Tibetan singing bowl by charging itOn Saturday the 11th of July 2009 I was delighted to be able to host for a small group of my Reiki students a Tibetan singing bowl workshop given by Chris Green and supported by another bowl enthusiast Jean Girling.

This workshop had a strong hands-on approach and the students who attended were introduced to a selection of different Tibetan singing workshop with a hands-on approach to learn more about the bowls and they were originally designed for and how, by using them they can benefit the human body from a healing perspective.

Chris Green and Rachel Scriven After an in-depth introduction about Tibetan bowls and their history Chris gave instruction on how to use the bowls, everyone was given a bowl to try out for themselves, some bowls were found to be easier to use than others. The group was then divided into two groups, one half offered to give healing using a singing bowl to the other half who received this vibrational healing. Chris had also brought along a gong to the workshop so demonstrated how it worked to the group who were then able to try it out for themselves. At the end of this workshop Chris demonstrated how to energize water in a Tibetan singing bowl by charging it. Everyone was fascinated by the results of just how the water responded.

Lucy Oldham and Lucy Britten Chris advises the following: "I'd encourage anybody who's interested in bowls as a result of our workshop to go out and buy one. Much more fulfilling than just reading about them".

Jane DawkinsMany thanks to Chris Green and Jean Girling for presenting such an interesting and interactive workshop.
